1000

A close up shot of a computer keyboardDear friends,

When I launched this blog in October 2013, it was with a genuine desire to learn the discipline of writing consistently. If I was left completely to my own devices, I know I would be writing, just that it would be in dribs and drabs, especially with no set deadline or commitment, even if it was an unwritten commitment to myself.

Having a blog in the public domain reinforced my personal goal and got me in the habit of producing a little 1000 word essay each week. With the exception of a couple of weeks when I was away on vacation, I was able to accomplish that, I learned to MAKE the time for writing (as opposed to find the time for writing) and I developed regular writing habits.

Given that the goal was a deeply personal one, I really had no expectations when it came to how many people would read it. Of course, when you launch a blog, you hope that a few friends and family look at it from time to time, but that’s about it. What I did not expect was the surprise last weekend of reaching a milestone of 1000 page views in 10 months. The fact that family, friends and complete strangers took the time to check out my blog (and some actually read it!) 1,000 times is mind-blowing to me!

I know my entries are not hard-hitting news items nor are they deeply critical pieces. That’s fine with me, because a) that’s not my style, and b) there are plenty of great bloggers who provide that. Over 35 blog entries, I seem to have found my voice in lighter fare, whether in storytelling or observational humour, which follows in the footsteps of the writers I have enjoyed most over the years.

I am deeply appreciative of your visits to my blog, your likes, your shares, your retweets, the 56 followers (WOW!) and your feedback. It reassures me that there is an audience for my observations along life’s journey and that the way I share my stories does indeed resonate with people.

Life can be hard sometimes, so if a visit to my blog offered you a few minutes to forget your troubles, crack a smile, laugh a little or even to inspire in a positive way, then the blogging journey has already been worth it and for that I am so very grateful.

To all: Thank you, merci, tusen tack and muchas gracias!

Stay tuned for more in my literary “variety show” of humour, reality, soul searching and bad poetry!

Cheers!
André

    • Hi Maria,
Many thanks for the compliment and the encouragement. I am delighted that my writing strikes a chord with you and that it is able to bring a smile to your face! Fear not, I still have more topics and stories up my sleeve, and more being added weekly, so I plan on being here for a while!
Thanks again for your kind words,
      André
